My life in dreams

Trying to remember July

July is running away from me faster than I can catch my breath. I cannot believe all the school supplies are already out on display at almost all the stores by me.  The days are running together  and I have no idea what I accomplished this summer thus far.

Well the one thing I did do this summer was go to Disney at the beginning of June. Things have changed so much since the last time I was there. For one, the crowds were massive and it kept raining and raining and raining.

Secondly, I don’t remember having to wait 3 hours to get on a ride. I was glad to see that they gave out Fast Passes; but still, it was a bit crazy to try to go on all the rides we wanted and not spend the entire day waiting in line to go on just one ride.

Also, what happened to all the characters that walked around the parks and you were able to get their autographs? That’s right! There was a line for the characters as well 😦

I did enjoy the Beast’s Castle from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. It was really neat to eat there and that was the one place I did not mind waiting in line. I also loved the fireworks in Disney’s Magic Kingdom. It really brought me back to my childhood and the very first time I saw Mickey Mouse.

However, it seems that there is so much more than Disney World in Orlando, FL.  We went to a Pirate Show Dinner and It was really fun. I definitely want to spend more time in Universal Studios and try the Butter Beer in Harry Potter Land. My husband loved the Harry Potter simulator ride so much,  that he went on it twice!

I would also like to go back to FL and stay by the beach. Maybe do more sightseeing and dig my toes in the sand.

It has been a rough year thus far for us and I really have no idea what plans we have for the next upcoming months. I feel like I am in the middle of a crossroad and I am not sure what direction to take.  All I can do is wait for time to tell me.

Happy Summer!!!

Doctors and Fleas and Snakes Oh My!

Sorry guys and gals, this post is a venting post and there is a topic concerning women’s health. Read at your own risk!!!

I have been dealing with a slight flea problem for several weeks now, which started with my sister’s dog. Thankfully, I think that I finally have it under control after several flea baths, flea sprays, and an exterminator. Unfortunately, I am still finding a few dead ones and my poor dog is still scratching. The awful heat out here, in VA, has not helped and we have other bugs that are breeding like crazy as well.

I finally hit a breaking point when I found a snake in my kitchen the other day!!!! I literally cried. I was sooo tired of vacuuming, and cleaning, and spraying…and then, there is the snake! I was mortified!!!!

I immediately called everyone I knew to calm me down. I thought I was going to lose any amount of sanity I had left. Thankfully, the maintenance guy came to my rescue after failed phone calls to animal control. He managed to get the awful reptile out of my apartment, only to then tell me that he is terrified of snakes as well!!! LOL

It just seems that everything that is going to go wrong is actually going wrong. Murphy’s law is into action full force this summer. I truly wish my husband could be home right now.

On other news, I had my very first mammogram the other day. I was terrified to go and really had no idea what to expect. It was just a routine checkup and thankfully everything turned out well. It really was not as bad as I thought it was going to be, and honestly all women should put the fear aside and get checked as soon as they are at least 40-years-old. If you are high risk or have immediate family members that have been affected by breast cancer, then you may request to get an exam sooner. There are also home exams that can be performed on a monthly basis. I cannot emphasize the importance of getting checked.

As I said earlier, I was petrified to go and get this exam done. When I arrived the assistants and the technician welcomed me and were very patient. The technician explained everything to me and walked me through all the steps. I asked if it was painful and she reassured me that it could be uncomfortable, but not as bad a visit to the Dentist;  which I did have and will get into later. I was relieved that the exam was not painful, maybe a little uncomfortable but nothing that I was not able to bear. I was also relieved to get my results the same day and that all was fine. It really was not as bad as I thought! The worse part of the exam was not being able to wear deodorant before the exam!!!

What was really awful and terrible was my visit to the Dentist. I went to the dentist for a routine checkup and a cleaning. He suggested to get my old fillings replaced. Being that mine were done in the 90’s, I thought why not? After all, my insurance would cover most of it and I wanted fillings that matched my teeth. After two and half weeks, I am still suffering with pain and major sensitivity all over my mouth!!! I have been to the dentist three times now to correct this issue, and it is just not going away. I kind of wish I had left my old silver fillings and ignored the dentist. Apparently other people out there have had the same reaction to the composite fillings that are now being used, and some people are allergic to the material. I really hope my issue gets resolved on its own and I wont need to re-replace the fillings. I hate the dentist as it is. I read that some people suffer from issues with their new fillings for months and I want to be able to eat a proper meal at some point!

Boy…what an awful, hot summer am I having! I hope all of you have a better one!!!

Summer Music: Talking Heads

If you were born in the 70’s or 80’s, then you may have heard of the band Talking Heads. I absolutely love their music and blast it in my car once in a while. Although the last time they were active was in 1991, I still dance to their funky tune.  It is upbeat, artsy, and a little weird; just like me.

Here are a few of my favorite songs from this New Wave band:

1. Road To Nowhere. Why? We all at some point feel like we have no clue what is going on, or what direction in life to take, or why we are doing something. This song is me at this very moment.

2. This Must Be The Place. Why? I enjoy the beat and it is a kinky love-making song.

3. Burning Down The House. Why? This song smells, tastes, and sounds like 80’s music and lots of rebelliousness.

4. And She Was. Why? Once again, great upbeat song and it may be about letting yourself go into whatever it is that you are into; for me that would be daydreaming. Others may think it is about a self-induced head trip of another kind.

5. Psycho Killer. Why? The title says it all. This song and the music ROCKS in a lyrical, musical sense that is 🙂

The Beauty of Sunflowers

Recently my husband sent me some flowers. I was not feeling all that well, and felt a little bored and lonely. It was nice to come home from running errands and finding them in a large box waiting for me by the door.

As I opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised that he sent me sunflowers 🙂 They are my absolute favorite!!!!

First, sunflowers smile at you. Yes! They are always happy and blissful. How can I anyone be sad after looking at a sunflower? They radiate happiness and it definitely brought a BIG smile to my face.

Second, the color of the sunflower is amazing. The bright yellow brings warmth, comfort and happy thoughts. It is a very friendly color that is also not too powerful or offensive, like the red of roses for example. This is the reason why I love all shades of yellow. Even the wackiest of neon yellow warms my heart. It is a cheerful color. There is no way I can think of anything negative or sad when I see the color yellow, or a beautiful, big, bright sunflower. It does not say “I want you”, or “I love you”, or “I am sorry”, or “forgive me”. Out of the many things it says to me, I hear: “Smile, laugh, be happy, you are cherished and not alone!!!”.

Third, I love the shape of a sunflower. It has a big, flowery, circle head that looks like a Sun, or even a smiley face. The actual “flower” it is just a bunch of smaller flowers all crowded together. So in one “flower” you can have many flowers. How many roses are in one rose? Just one. But  in just one sunflower you get many of them all crowded together in a big flower head.

Fourth, the stem of a sunflower is nice and long. This is a very elegant flower and can grow to big heights. It almost tells you: “Reach for the sun and the skies, and beyond”. This flower really communicates and connects to me. It says so many  wonderful, warm things.

What is your favorite flower?

Happy Reading and Happy Summer!!!!
